We did use a tinted primer and were still painting for days. I think the grand total was 1 coat primer, four to five coats paint depending on the wall. I found out afterward that with red you should concentrate on one wall at a time so the paint is not completely dry when you apply the next coat. You should also work in the middle and work your way out, and always run the roller over your edges after you cut in with a brush. This helps keep it even. Apparently we should of only needed three coats after the primer, but we kept going until we got the look we were going for.Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14045685748766431789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14252293.post-1147879426416527072006-05-17T09:23:00.000-06:002006-05-17T09:23:00.000-06:00Lisa you crack me up...yeah self tanner is tricky....Lisa you crack me up...yeah self tanner is tricky. And it seems no matter how diligently you wash your hands after applying it, your palms STILL have that orange glow! (I am hoping to read "Blue Like Jazz" sometime soon. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it!)

Jeannett you also crack me up. I've never heard of that book, but I'll be sure not to read it! Being our esteemed nursery director and all, maybe you'd enjoy "Too Small to Ignore: Why Kids Are the Next Big Thing" by the head of Compassion Int'l. It is a GREAT book. We have it if you want to borrow.

Krystal, my best friend had to read that book for a book report in high school and she HATED it. So you are not alone! Read Francine Rivers if you like fiction and want a break from Narnia--I think your mom has some of her books.

Shelley, I've heard about that book and want to read it. You should blog about how it has impacted you!

Renee I agree that movie was SO SAD! Parts of it I could barely watch. Penguins live hard and very tragic little lives. I will never quite look at them the same. I used to feel sorry for the penguins at Sea World but now I'm thinking they have it pretty good :o).

So there it is... my disillusonment with the lives of penguins..

Oh, and we we have a red front door.. I don't remember excatly how many coats it took but dh was busy for days :o)

Blessings,
ReneeReneehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00107683647698983957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14252293.post-1147865667805578832006-05-17T05:34:00.000-06:002006-05-17T05:34:00.000-06:00Re-reading The Irrestible Revolution By Shane Clai...Re-reading The Irrestible Revolution By Shane Claiborne with a friend I meet with on Mondays. IT IS LIFE CHANGING, fresh, real, biblical. I am tempted to buy it and send it to you! :)shellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06979460784361297277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14252293.post-1147836884071506422006-05-16T21:34:00.000-06:002006-05-16T21:34:00.000-06:00Well...I had to read For Whom The Bell Tolls by He...Well...I had to read For Whom The Bell Tolls by Hemingway this year in AP and hated it. I know a lot of ppl adore Hemingway, but I don't! :) I just thought it was sooo boring! I just always re-read random books from the Chronicles of Narnia if I wanna read a good book, cuz them I know! :)

As far as the red paint...yeah, like I have an advice! :( I'm only 18 man! Oh my gosh, I'm 18! lol

Lil' Sis KrysAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14252293.post-1147815949297473562006-05-16T15:45:00.000-06:002006-05-16T15:45:00.000-06:00To comment on the red paint, you need to use a tin...To comment on the red paint, you need to use a tinted primer (not white).

I'm sure that's not what you were hoping for in comments, Brianna, but still fun anyway. :)Shanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08553880920740654030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14252293.post-1147805044936920272006-05-16T12:44:00.000-06:002006-05-16T12:44:00.000-06:00Red paint takes about 5-6 coats if you didn't use ...Red paint takes about 5-6 coats if you didn't use primer first...learned that the hard way.

Self tanner sucks. You can buy the cheap stuff or the high end boutique stuff...still comes out blotchy. Trust me, I've tried it all...have you seen my legs???(The spray on tans work well but only last 1 week).

I just read "The Secret Life of Bees" on a recommendation from a co-worker. Not only was it only "Ok" (at best) but the main character had all these insightful and incredibly mature musings...and she's FOURTEEN. Killed the credibility for me. I don't care how mature this girl is for her age...she's still only 14. Hence, my request for a good book. Anyone else have any suggestions?Jeannetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05378569765609750176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14252293.post-1147803279539145952006-05-16T12:14:00.000-06:002006-05-16T12:14:00.000-06:00I'm using a self tanner on my legs that's a little...I'm using a self tanner on my legs that's a little blotchy, thats been disappointing. I am also disappointed with the way teh red paint in covering our kitchen walls. We have invested 7.5 hours so far and will continue to paint until the color is even!!!Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14045685748766431789noreply@blogger.com
