All in a day's work...

--Just sold my first book on Half.com! Took it to the post office to mail today, and opted to use the postage machine instead of waiting in line, because I got a good parking spot and could see the van from the machine, so I could leave the kids in the van (did you follow all that?!). Turns out I should've sent it "media mail", not "priority", but the machine didn't offer media mail. Bottom line, I was totally confused and spent $7.50 in postage on a stupid book that I only sold for $3!!!! (Half.com reimburses sellers for shipping costs, but only up to a certain amount--and I can guarantee you not for $7.50.) SO yeah, I fully PAID someone to take Milton's Paradise Lost off my hands!

--At Target I suddenly looked down to find Anna putting on a bra.

--I successfully organized/cleaned out our hall closet!!! VERY exciting for me.

--I was at Ross once and saw a woman with a shirt on that read "I ain't afraid of no po-po." I wasn't sure what po-po meant (guess I'm not the most street-wise), and Kevin informed me it was referring to the police. WELL, somehow over dinner tonight, that story came up, and we've always thought it was so funny, so I told Anna to say it (I know, I know, we should be instilling respect for authority in our children, and I assure you that we do!). WELL, refusing to use poor grammar, she said very prim and properly, "I am not afraid of the po-po." HA! Fortunately they don't know what it refers to, so if I get pulled over, there shouldn't be any problems...

And who says being an at-home mom isn't exciting?! :)

(Baths are done, Kevin's got the boys in bed, now I've just gotta get Anna's pj's on and get her tucked in, clean up dinner, and then I can relax with the husband and have a bowl of cookies-and-cream ice cream...)

When you said you sold your first book--I thought you meant you wrote a book and were having it published. (Not that the other things weren't great accomplishments!!)

I sell books on Amazon (some lady donated over 400 books to me) to pay for Zak's homeschool curriculum. Always send Media mail and if you have a Longs Drugs that is close by you can mail from there, skip the line and take the kids in the shopping cart. You can also go early (they open at 7) or late (I think they close at 10:00). Just a little tip! I also package the books in paper grocery bags to recycle them and save on buying mailing supplies.

Anna is too funny! It was so great to hang out on sunday with you!

Have you ever tried www.usps.com? That's what I almost always do when I'm shipping stuff. You can print out and pay for your label on-line and then just stick your book (or whatever you're selling) in your mailbox with the flag up and the mailman will take it. No trips to the post office. It's great!

Kristen - Tilapia is just a thin white fish. Most grocery stores carry it. Trader Joes has some really good flash frozen talapia. It's one of my favorite fishes.

brianna--too funny! how does kevin know what po-po is? cade bought a painting in ebay once for once cent--unfortunately, he forgot to check out the shipping and his "one cent" painting ended up being $75. we had a good laugh about that, especially since the painting turned out to be ugly. i hate having to mail things at the post office! why don't they have a drive-up window? i love drive-thru's, don't you agree?

Joy, Oh I know some things...yo. Word. Peace out.

heh heh heh...

Joy, clearly Kevin spent some time on "the streets" of Santa Ynez growing up, with his extensive knowledge of slang!

And OH how I love drive-thrus!!! I think all stores should have them! Imagine if we could just sit down and from the comfort from our car buy things from Target, do all our grocery shopping...we'd never have to leave our minivans! (I HATE having to go to the post office to mail stuff.)

Just had to come out of the lurking shadows and say that all of those could easily describe a typical day for our family. I guess maybe it's a large family thing! Anyway, thanks for the laugh!
