food for thought

From Russell D. Moore's Adopted for Life:

Perhaps what our churches need most of all in our defense of the faith against Darwinian despair is not more resources on how the fossil record fits with the book of Genesis and not more arguments on how molecular structures show evidence of design. Perhaps the most practical way...is to showcase families for whom love is more than gene protection.

An orphan-protecting adoption culture is countercultural and always has been.

As of late I've been especially bothered by the multitudes of children with medical needs who are waiting and waiting for families. All around the world. Something is wrong.

It is troubling. And I want to do something. Not sure what, considering I'm 18+ weeks pregnant with my fifth child.

Oh how I desire that hearts would be broken for these children--but not just broken, moved to action. Mine included.

I started reading this book last night. :) And Greg is reading Reckless Faith. Hoping between the two of them we'll get some kind of medical needs adoption green light (again!).

;)

Oh, Brianna--you bring such amazing things to the light and they're always so convicting. I want to read that book now. The hard part is the action. I'll have to pray about that one. :)

This quote is so compelling, as has been your urging for us to pray about helping orphans. Thank you for not letting us let these commands of the Lord go idle!!

ahh brianna what a neat quote!! I just blogged about adopting drug exposed infants, go check it out! I know my heart has already been broken for both the babies here in the states who have been abused in utero, as well as the sweet little babies I held in Kenya. I can't wait until I have a family of my own and can be a mommy to some of these kids :)

I've been following your blog for awhile; now we're in the process of adopting from Ethiopia. My husband and I are both reading that book and feeling the same way; the burden is huge. Praying and praying that God gives us direction. Thanks for all you share on your blog.
