Proud mama!

That's what I am right now, because just minutes ago, Biniam stood up on his own, without holding onto something, for the very first time!!!

I am seriously beside myself! This poor little guy has had such a tough go of it, is developmentally behind, and this is a huge accomplishment and milestone! Hopefully he'll be taking his first steps soon!

It was just the cutest thing. He has been attempting this maneuver for some time, but hadn't done it yet. Then all of a sudden, we're standing there in the kitchen, I look over and he does it! He got this gigantic grin on his face, I got all excited praising him and clapping, he started laughing really hard and sat down. He kept doing it, laughing too hard to stay standing, and sitting down. He was fully putting on a show and was loving every minute of it. I could tell that he loved making me so happy.

Life is good.

I am new to your blog. I found it through my research into my options for Ethiopian adoptions. Congratulations on your little ones and on Biniam's big day! I look forward to sharing in your joy.

Thanks,
Angela

I just checked back to see how the kids are doing. No updates since I last looked, but I am sure there will be soon. They seem to be progressing rather quickly.
I have always wanted to adopt and I have been thinking about Ethiopia for a few years now. I cannot wait until I am finally ready to start the process. It might be a couple of years, so hopefully Ethiopia will still have relatively relaxed requirements then. As a single woman working as a teacher in a Christian private school, I don't make a ton so I hope they aren't looking for millionaires or couples only by the time I am ready. :)
In any case, your family's site has helped me feel like I am already in the process in some capacity. At least I get to see little ones (from the country I hope to adopt from) doing well in a family that so clearly adores them. I cannot wait until I can contact AAI and say "I am ready to adopt!"

Best Wishes,
Angela
