Unmotivated

(I cannot hear the word "motivated" without thinking about a scene in the original British version of The Office where Ricky Gervais' character is talking about him getting people "all motivated." Because he's "an entertainer." Heehee!)

So I am having a HORRIBLE time settling back in after our trip! There's no shortage of housework to do, things to put away, meals to plan, or groceries to buy...but I'm just plain unmotivated. I'm not sure why it's so difficult this time around--maybe because we came back on a weekday, Kevin returned to work right away, and there was no down-time? I have no clue. I DO know that my poor kids desperately need a bath, and I MUST get to the store in the next couple of days.

I think I at least have a meal plan for tonight (which will hopefully include homemade baked beans, which I have been dying to make but never think of in time, since it's an hours-long process), which is a huge load off my mind. Is there anything worse than not knowing what to make for dinner? I think not.

What I AM motivated to do is sit around in my pjs and read. I just started No Greater Love by Mother Teresa, which is a.ma.zing. So far I've just read the first part, on prayer, and there is so much to think about...I am always so challenged by her wisdom and her faith.

Now it's time to stop blogging, retrieve my crying baby already awake from her (brief) nap, and get some stuff done. OR maybe I'll sit down with my book...

Haha, I hear ya! My parents just left after two weeks with us here and I'm having SUCH a hard time getting into the swing of things. Hope it gets better for you and you'll have to let us know how the rest of No Greater Love is! :)

Must be something in the air because I feel the same.

I vote for sitting with the baby and the book!

I decided today was a day of doing nothing. I'm loving it, but the house is a disaster.

i agree that it's so important for my mental health (and motivation) to have mike home for a day after a trip instead of going to work right away.

and there's definitely nothing worse than not knowing what's going to be for dinner. except for meal planning. so there's the conundrum.

and i hear you about wanting to sit around and read. because today's nap time barely allowed for any of that, and i'm more than a bit disappointed. but i'm not reading anything as noble as you are. just rereading the twilight series. currently reading eclipse.

and wow, such a long comment probably wasn't necessary, but i miss you. and now nehemiah smells like poop, so i gotta go!

I know what you mean. I came home with bronchitis so my motivation level was "minus un"- I am feeling better so now we must take down all the Christmas decorations this weekend which I hate doing anyway and figure out how to add some color and lights to the house to replace all the Christmas lights :)

Brianna, I'd like to talk with you about adoption, but I can't find your email on here. If you get a chance, could you email me? My email is in my profile.
Thanks!

The family I stayed with in Liberia would have baked beans as a dinner main dish - you just reminded me of that! I think it's so brilliant and had meant to start doing that and never did. :) Now I will - but can I have your recipe cause all my baked beans come from a can.
