The three amigos

Lately, my oldest three kids cannot get enough of each other! Just about every night now after we've tucked them all in, we'll hear a noise and discover Anna has snuck down the hall and climbed into bed with one of her brothers. She is constantly wanting to play with them, cuddle with them...it is adorable!

It's been really interesting having three kids that are essentially peers (Anna's 8 months older). When we first brought the boys home, there was a marked difference between them and Anna, but now it's kind of like having triplets. They love to hug each other, play together, serve food to one another, get into trouble together...it's almost like every day is a party!

I'll be honest and say that the prospect of having three kids so close in age sometimes worries me a little, just from the standpoint that I don't want a child feeling lost in the crowd, attention starved, etc. One of my biggest prayers for my children is for them to feel valued and special and loved individually, by us as their parents.

And God has been amazingly faithful! The kids love each other, would be lost without one another, and have honestly never shown signs that they are jealous of mom and dad's attention or love. So far I'm loving the fact that these kids will grow up as friends and peers. We're really careful about guarding their space (for example, if someone's wanting to play alone or something), and not being pushy about them interacting--that seems like a recipe for disaster.

Anyhow, I feel so blessed by the fact that my kids like each other, and look forward to the years ahead.

okay, you're kids are so cute! how sweet that they are having so much fun together. eli and abe share a room and they play after we have put them to bed, too. the sound of their laughter is priceless. we started staggering their bedtimes though because they were staying up way too late!

Watching your kids together is so sweet. Good to see you guys again last night...sorry we had to leave early.

joy we have also attempted to stagger the boys' naptimes and it does (occasionally) help. you'd think they'd get sick of each other but they never seem to! (must be a twin thing?)

jeannett no worries on leaving! last night was really just hanging out/catching up anyhow. the rigorous Bible study and reciting the Old Testament from memory will resume next week. we'll make sure you can't leave early by childproofing our door...oh wait, we've already done that! seriously, it was so nice to have you guys here again. maybe next time, if you think it'd help, i can set up our packnplay in another room? (though if henry's like me, he won't be fooled--there's nothing like your own bed!)

Jeannett, don't worry we left shortly after you did. Troy had to go back to work for 4 more hours. I'm so tired, we went to bed at 2am. I don't know how you moms with newborns do it. I need my 8 hours, otherwise it isn't pretty. How many bible verses am I suppose to recite from Numbers next week:-)
BYW- the boys are so talkative these days, they do feel so much more like Anna's peers. Be careful, those three are quite smart, espeically all together!!!

brianna, i swear we have the same brain. and kids with the same sweet hearts! i worry too, about all my kids being so close, but i am definatly seeing the benefits outweighting the negatives. and god is SO good-i am sure your kids will be friends for thier whole lives, going through so many stages together. and fostering that daily when they are young is so great too. i know you are tired of me saying this, i wish you lived closer!

behold how good and how pleasant it is when brother live together in harmony! Now if I can just get them to stop playing in bed for so long. All three of ours are in the same room and every night is a slumberparty!
