I found this challenge and I'm thinking I'll give it a go! Lately I've really been wanting to be more purposeful/organized about what our family eats. I'm the type of person who, if I'm NOT purposeful about something, it just doesn't get done. Anyway, we don't really buy much junkfood, but I'd love us to eat even more fresh (or raw) fruits and veggies. Me and the kids (Kevin too) LOVE smoothies and these seem pretty darn healthy. I'd also like to do something active each day--take a walk, something. Will it happen? Only time will tell, I'm a habitual flake.
Oh and I think I'm pretty much sold on buying organic meat from now on. Thanks so much for all your input!
Mark a check in the "granola" column for me.

you read happy foody too!?!?!???!?!??!?!?
we are seriously sisters separated at birth.
Wow. Take the baton girl...you deserve it. You are wayyy more granola than I am!
And for the record, Andy makes himself shakes every morning too...not green ones, but he does add protein powder! (No, not the body builder kind...)
Interesting. I never thought to add greens to a fruit smoothy, but it's a really good idea. I'll have to try it. Let us know if they are yummy or not.
problem .... green foods have a very distinctive and stong flavor. They don't belong with fruit! spinach tastes good scrambled up with eggs and cheese in an omlett, lettuce is good in a salad, Kale is good ... on a grocery store shelf. To each his/her own I guess. Let us know how it tastes.
shelley i know, so funny! (i actually just found her blog, totally fun to read.)
jeannett, you still have the midwife and the acupuncture on me...the competition is not over yet!
lara and jacquelyn, i will report on how it is. i'd never thought of it either, but it seems like a good idea--provided it tastes okay!
I tried it last night-banana, frozen blueberries, ice, water....and spinach. i wasnt in love, but tasted MUCH better then i would have ever guessed! Her personal blog is great too. She says some great stuff and has really helped me become more..... "granola". :)
okay well it's good to know it's at least edible! yeah i found her personal blog first, then clicked onto this one. i agree she has some great stuff on there!
I eat a lot of spinach and romaine, pretty much daily, I don't need to mix it with my fruit. I may want to add an all fruit smoothie into my diet a few times a week. I also like to use whey to help keep me full longer. Aubrey thinks chocolate whey is chocolate milk!
Hey there ladies...thanks for the link and the kind words :) And for those of you who are skeptical about the smoothies...it really does taste yummy and not "green" at all. The key is to begin with LOTS of frozen bananas as the base and go from there. Add other berries or melons plus water and some greens. Today we did banana/orange/spinach and it was amazing. One of the best benefits to these is that kids will actually drink them...whereas it might be hard to get them to EAT kale/spinach/romaine, etc. Go green! :)
