Assorted things (because I still need to upload my pictures off my camera)

First off, here is a picture of the inside of the Polestar calendar I was talking about, for Amber:

Second, I bought my 2009 calendar off Ebay (it was new, but less expensive and I figured I'd get it sooner.) I just got an email though saying there was a mistake, they're refunding my Paypal account, and yeah, no calendar. SO I go to order it off the Polestar site...and THEY only accept Visa or Mastercard...and our Mastercards have expired so we're waiting on our new ones. So yeah, again, no calendar. I have all this stuff going on and it's not written down anywhere! Grrrr.
UPDATED: Our cards arrived in the mail today, so my calendar has been succesfully ordered through the Polestar site. Yay!

Today I ventured out into quite a bit of snow. (It took me a long time to get it all off my windshield...ah, the joys of a detached garage that is still filled with a bunch of our junk--er, posessions--so I have to park on the street.) I only lost traction once. (Note to self: go THROUGH yellow light on the snowy road, don't try to stop.) We went and played at a friend's house this morning and then made a trip to Costco. It was really cold (again, the joys of a detached garage. Makes carrying groceries in quite an adventure!)

I may live to eat these words...but...I really, really LIKE the winter weather here. I get to actually wear fun scarves and gloves and it is so, so beautiful. I LOVE the different seasons and it is a really neat way to see God's majesty in the world He has made. My kids are loving it too.

I just started the book Sacred Marriage, for my mom's group at church. So far it's good, and pretty interesting. The subtitle is, "What if God Designed Marriage to Make Us Holy More Than to Make Us Happy?" (See, doesn't it sound intriguing?) Semi-related sidenote: I love being married.

Yesterday I found a copy of The Maker's Diet at a second-hand store for $2.99. Cannot WAIT to read it!!!

Remember how I bought these great alphabet cards? Well I started putting them up on the wall in the kids' playroom. I did "A" through "F". And I've misplaced the box. I cannot find it ANYwhere. When I told Anna I don't know where it is and therefore I can't finish putting them up, she quickly informed me, "That's why you should put them up all at the same time." Wow. Thanks.

Okay, that is all. Happy Monday!

Glad you are enjoying the weather...it DOES sound cozy and kinda fun. Although the 75 degree cloudless sky today was kinda nice too. :)

I hate when I try to be all slick and buy something on ebay because I want to save a few bucks and then it gets lost in the mail or whatever! I feel like that happens all the time...just when I thought I was being frugal...

And I LOVE the subtitle of that book. You'll have to let me know how it turns out.

Anna is just too smart. She has a point...

That book does sound interesting (both books actually.) I'm going to look for the maker's diet at the library right now.

What service! Thank you so much for posting the photo. Even though I don't have any kids, I still feel like I need help in organizing my day to day activities. Like blogging for example...I know it's a bad sign when my parents start harassing me for a new blog!

I also must say that I am SO glad to hear you love the winters! I am SO jealous. 80 degrees here today...no joke. Is this what people call winter?

Please enjoy wearing your winter accessories double for me!

I've been interested in the Maker's Diet, too! Seems to me eliminating foods/food groups that God gave us might not be a good idea, no matter what my doctor said!

Different seasons are so enjoyable. Sorry to hear of the cold grocery unloading, though. Puts my carport situation all in perspective!

I don't believe in stopping while driving in snow, or driving in the lane for that matter. We played in the snow twice today. The girls had a blast and I got a little exercise shoveling snow.

amber, yes, winter accessories are so fun--and i never liked the warm weather in winter in california! hopefully we will see you here someday! then we can be "friends in real life who met through blogging"! :)

joanie, no matter WHAT the weather, keeping your car outdoors can be rough! so i feel ya on the carport!

ha rachel, we don't get enough snow in denver where people aren't stopping...so if i didn't stop at all, that could be a major problem! but lanes...who needs them?! i love when you can't see the lanes on I-25 and the cars all just kinda pick their own spot!

Okay, I just read reviews for the Maker's Diet. It's quite controversial. I'm eager to hear your opinion of it.

Brianna Heldt said...

oh is it controversial??? now i'm extra excited to read it. i'll definitely let you know what i think!

I read Sacred Marriage a couple of years ago and that subtitle has always stayed with me - it's PROFOUND! I think of it often. :) I don't remember anything else about the book! LOL!

I'm totally intrigued by the marriage book. i'll have to put that on my list.
And I can't wait to hear your opinion of The Maker's Diet. I had no idea it was controversial either.

I absolutely LOVE the seasons out here! And I totally remember learning that yellow light lesson my first time driving in the snow, too!

I am also really interested to hear how you like the book. I looked up the book's website and agree with some things, especially this excerpt:

The Three I’s
The Maker’s Diet is designed to attack the three I’ s — insulin, infection, and inflammation. By balancing insulin, you can improve physical, mental, and emotional health; also, balancing your blood sugar will result in sharpening your concentration and enhancing your mood. By reducing infection, you can lessen the toxic burden placed on your body by your daily contact with germs. By lessening inflammation, you can reduce aches and pains and decrease risk factors for such diseases as heart disease and cancer. By attacking these three I’ s, you can improve your appearance and increase your energy and begin to reverse the process of accelerated aging — living life the way you were meant to live it.

but I don't so much agree with only eating as God told the Jews in the O.T. since Jesus pretty clearly over-ruled that.

anyways, please do keep us informed!

sacred marriage is a great book. gary thomas is friends with our st pastor, so he has come and done marriage and parenting seminars-he is great! i did think sacred marriage started slow, but the middle gets good.
i don't mind the snow either! we have a blizzard watch tonight!

Okay glad to know I'm not the only one out there who genuinely enjoys the snow and cold weather!

So fun that so many of you have read that book! I've only read 2 chapters so far but the premise is interesting. I like how he talked about how in the Catholic faith marriage is still revered really highly (a sacrament) and contrasted that with how it's viewed in secular society/protestantism today.
