Resolution #2

My first New Year's resolution was to be more organized with my life. So far it's going pretty well. I'm doing a better job of maintaining my home and am much less stressed about it in general.

My second resolution is to read the Bible every day.

I'm going through the One-Year Chronological Bible. So right now I'm in Genesis. (Side-note: this Bible was my very first Christmas gift from my very first boyfriend while we were dating. Thanks Kev! :) )

And I LOVE the Old Testament. I love learning about ancient history and seeing how God lovingly provided for His people and used them in spite of their many, many imperfections and repeated mistakes. What an encouragement to us! Not everyone in blogland probably reads the Bible but it is quite an amazing book about quite an amazing God.

My ultimate goal is to get up early (as in, no later than 7 am--yes, I know, I am so NOT a morning person!), spend some time with Kevin before work and read it then while I drink my coffee. We'll see. I have a really hard time getting up if I don't have to!

don't tell anyone - my get-up goal is 8. so embarrassing. But my kids get up at about 7:30 and play. And in my new routine, I pray before I get out of bed, then I come sit on the couch at 8 to see if anyone wants to come snuggle, then I get them going with breakfast (which I've been making in the crock pot so I just have to dish it up) then go back to the couch to read the Bible. Then they go through their morning chores and we start school at 9. Feels very lazy but very PEACEFUL! Speaking of which, got to go get the coffee pot ready so it's all done in the morning too!

Oh what I would give to sleep in until 7am!!! It sounds like lovely start to your day. I hope the habit sticks!

I have the same bible!!! In fact I've been wanting to read it through this year. I'm 15 days behind already because...I am on a business trip and didn't bring it...seriously thinking of ripping it into pieces so I don't have to haul the entire thing around on planes...

I'm with Jenn on the crock pot thing. And...it's one of my goals, too! I actually scheduled it in each day through Feb on my Polestar. Good to know you and Jenn are doing it, too... Feel free to ask me how I'm doin'!

Okay Jenn truth be told I usually roll out of bed between 7:30 and 8, like you. SO happy I'm not the only one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you do breakfast in the crockpot??? I'm intrigued, b/c it sounds like a great idea!

OK - I've been planning to post on the breakfast crock pot, so now I will over http://notmyliberianblog.blogspot.com

And as for Bibles, we ordered The Living Bible translation for this year with the kids (you can't get it new anymore from what I can tell - it's an old version from Tyndale done in the 70s) - very kid friendly language and I'm loving reading it myself!

I LOVE the chronological daily Bible! Jay got it for me a few years ago and I never knew how enthralled with the Bible I could be. I really should do it again.

so exciting that you've decided to homeschool anna and your program sounds wonderful. I agree that it sounds like you have many wonderful choices in your area. You get to choose such a rich education and not pay money for it! Yay! and I am joining you and (many others) on their quest to get up a little earlier and read the Bible. I know we will all be blessed as we truly SEEK the Lord. Sometimes, I feel like I am trying to follow Him, but not truly seeking Him. Anyway, I miss you and hope all is truly well on the Heldt front.
