Finished

Yes friends, I finished Breaking Dawn, the final book in the Twilight Saga. I was really not feelin' it for much of the story (fellow rabid Twilight fans, please don't hate me), but by the end it totally had me again and can I just say, what a wonderful story! December just cannot come soon enough!! (For the uninitiated, that's when the movie comes out. And I will be there. Opening night. At the theater. Even if I have to go alone!)

Meanwhile, I woke up today with a sore throat, splitting headache, and sore neck glands. Ugh. Guess I can't complain though--for some weird reason I, and the rest of my family, stay MUCH healthier here in Denver than we did in California. Isn't that strange???? We don't really do anything differently, and yet we never get sick. Interesting.

In other news I'm about to order some phonics books to work on with Anna this year as we get ready for kindergarten. My goal is to have each of my kids reading before they start school. Anna can already read a TINY bit but we still have a ways to go. Very exciting!

Yeah, I know what you mean about "not feeling it." I didn't read through the last book half as fast as I did the previous books.

Hope you feel better! It's hard being sick and a mommy. Maybe there are less allergens in Denver then there are in SM. Maybe less pollution?

What phonics books are you getting for Anna? How exciting that she can already read!

How funny! I started reading with Maegan early, too, but i just checked out a book at the library called 'better late than early' ! The opposite approach! I just got it, I'll let you know what I think! :)
In the meantime, both my older kids learned all their phonics from the Leap Frog video called "The Letter Factory" $9.99 at target. I highly recommend it! :) I had been working and working with Mae before that, and she and Ry watched the video once and knew all their letters and sounds. It's great. Really, great.

Hey girl, I was so not feeling it either with Breaking Dawn...and I absolutely devoured the others 3! I think it totally dragged and then everything just ended up a little too happily ever after for my taste. I did like the very end, but still not as much as the other books.

Get well soon!

I am curious to know why you want to start your kids reading so early. No need to defend yourself, I'm just curious. And I'm like 6,000th in line for the FIRST Twilight book (per your rave) at our library. I might have to break down and buy them if it gets too close to the movie release.

I wasn't a huge fan of BD either. At the end I felt content, but I was sad that it wasn't as good as the others. I guess it was just so different than the others.

i didn't have that issue with the last twilight book, but i'm easily entertained, and once i'm a fan, i become very devoted. if anything, the third book dragged a little for me, but i was happy with the ending. exciting stuff for you and anna ahead. i already have plans for the movie, but i think i have already double booked myself. oh and since we can't see the movie together, i'm thinking we should make t-shirts and wear them to the movie. rhinestones on black that say twilight or something like that? walmart and michael's have iron-on rhinestones, i think. are you going to read the host?
sorry you're feeling sick. i miss edward and bella already.

So, I had this book in my cart at Target...since it really couldn't be that bad if Brianna liked it and I wanted some easy summer reading...but I put it back. I just couldn't bring myself to buy a teen fiction about vampires. Of all things. I might check it out at the library. That might be more acceptable. HA! I'll let you know what I think whenever I finish it (but that requires going to the library first).

don't know anything about the books, but I do have a daughter that's an early reader as well. We ADORE the Hooked on Phonics program because the kids can do it alone (with the CD-ROM) OR with help from and adult, or both! It is so easy that my precious husband is not intimidated to help teach the kids. The one I ordered is the "Learn to Read" ages 4-8 and we got it new off of Ebay or Amazon for a great price. Anyway, I hope you are successful and that they have fun learning to read.

I just had to chime in about the book. I just finished Breaking Dawn about one hour ago and I am already having withdrawals. I agree there were certain parts in this 4th book that kind of dragged, but I LOVED the whole saga and am sad it is over. I am a sucker for happy endings too. It is a good "light" read when ya want to escape from all the seriousness of life, lol. Can't wait for December!! -Paige

I'm reading BD right now, and I know what you're saying... but the dishes are still piled up in the sink and laundry is spilling out into the hallway since I can't put it down. I read the first three in one week. All three. Pitiful. She's got a book coming out called Midnight Sun which is Edward's version of Twilight... check out her website for a preview!!

We are so seeing the movie together! We need to represent the "older" readers. I think if we all bring our local friends who love it we can have a big group!

Penny I'm just so thrilled you're reading the books! Heehee! You, Lisa, Joy, and anyone else reading them better represent at the movie opening night!

Oh Rachel yes, I will see it with you!!! And I'll bring along any friends who wanna see it! Woohoo! I've been dying to talk to you about the book, but you've been out of town! And now I'm sick. :( Darn.

I'm home and Aubrey actually talked about your kids twice while we were gone. She wanted them to go swimming with her at my parents house and also go to the aquarium with us. Oh, and you have what my kids have! Ugh. Get better and we'll hang out!
