Non updates

Boy you really don't have much to blog about when you spend your days watching "Seinfeld", "The Office", and the Olympics. I'd love to say I'm using this time to write cards to friends, or to read the classics, but I basically have no energy or desire to invest in such pursuits! Instead I sit on the couch and laugh, because really, those two shows are just so hilarious. (As for the Olympics, come on now, what is going on with some of the gymnastics scoring? And the ages of some of those athletes?! Oh and I think I have a crush on old man Bella Carolyi. Is he not just the sweetest guy? Kevin and I both think his wife totally looks like she could be named "Madge" and play in a bowling league. I TOLD you, I don't have much to blog about!)

Being the anal "must-get-to-the-bottom-of-this" person that I am, I HAD to research my teenage illness. I found some interesting things, like mono is not just passed through saliva, but also through coughing and sneezing. Most people by adulthood carry the virus, it occasionally reactivates in the body (showing no symptoms), and so the going thought is that it is the HEALTHY adult population spreading the virus. Also, the reason mono is less common among adults is that by the time you reach adulthood, you should have been exposed to it, and now carry immunity. Darn. (Kids get it often but it goes undetected since their symptoms are often very mild.)

So thanks to the healthy adult out there who decided I should finally be exposed. I REALLY appreciate it. And to everyone I knew growing up, for never exposing me to the virus and helping me build immunity.

Our carpet is being installed tomorrow and Thursday. I can't do any heavy lifting because my spleen might be enlarged, so the carpet man is graciously coming tonight to help Kevin move furniture so he can tear out the carpet himself. How fun, hanging out with the carpet installers for two days. Don't worry, I won't let them drink out of my glass or share my pudding!

Speaking of pudding, I'm off to make some. And then go watch Seinfeld. And maybe some Days of Our Lives. Have a great day!

I totally agree that there is something wonky going on with the gymnastics scoring. How can a vault routine with a good landing score lower than a vault routine where the chinese gymnast lands on her hands and knees. Or how about the tie where the Nastia got the exact same score as the underage Chinese gymnast and yet was given a silver medal??? How is that right? (Maybe I'm a little too passionate about the Olympics, or maybe I've stayed up too late for too long now.)

jacquelyn i'm with you! it is really disheartening. these girls have worked so hard, and to get so far and have judges be unfair, it doesn't seem right.

So many things to say, so little room.

1) Your post, while completely random was educational. I now know all about mono. Thanks.
2) Your post, while completely random, was less random than the one I graced on my own blog today.
3) Pudding. Such a strange food item. Even stranger word. It ends in "ing"...which should make it a verb...but what is it "to pud" and why on earth do we eat it???
4) what do you have against the carpet guy anyway? A girl I went to high school with married the guy from the gas company who came out to her house to fix something...you just never know Brianna...you never know...

I'm so happy you guys are getting your carpet installed. You can finally move it! I wonder who gave you mono? I bet it was Tom Petty. He looks like the type.

My couch potato kids would never let me watch that much TV. Ainsley freaks out if the TV is on something non-animated or non-musical for more than 5 minutes. So if I'm not feeling well, they score and I watch countless hours of musical cartoon characters.

Can't wait to see pics of your new place once you get the carpet installed and finally settle in. I hope you get to feeling better quickly. It's nice to see you're taking it in stride though.

Oh man, I'm so sorry you're sick. Thanks for the education about Mono. Very interesting.
I wish I was watching the Olympics with you last night. I was totally heart broken for Nastia. SO stupid that they can't give two gold metals anymore. There is always some controvery with gymnastics scoring but this was pretty darn terrible. maybe at least the beam tonight will be without issue. We'll see.

loved all your comments! jeannett you are great! i never thought about why pudding has an "ing" but you are right, it's strange!

rachel, i think i'm just a mean mom because i don't give my kids a choice. :) if they don't want to watch what mommy is watching, they are more than welcome to go play elsewhere! :)

and YES it is nice to have the carpet in--most of the house is hardwood but we now have carpet in the playroom, bedrooms, and downstairs. yipeeee!!!

yeah, they don't give mike crap about the TV, only me! the other day I asked Aubrey permission to have the TV on for me for a little while while they played. PATHETIC! I watched According to Jim and a home improvement show. Ahhh! It's a bummer when the whole house is sick, we are all lazy bums!
